I often get asked by those that I am coaching and consulting with in their businesses what I use for my remote setup. So I thought I would take a minute to share with you the tools I utilize. Feel free to share this information with others, or leave your comments below. Together we can all learn from each other.
I believe if you're going to use video in your business, you need a great camera. I was directed by a fellow avid vlogger to purchase the Logitech Brio 4K, which can be found on Amazon for $179. This camera is loaded with features, and produce a nice crisp picture. Don't get too caught up on the 4K aspect as most monitors, let alone televisions, are not able to display 4K. I prefer going with an external camera that can be connected via usb over the built-in computer camera just because there is no comparison in the quality. Checkout more on the Logitech Brio 4K.
You can't have great video and horrible sound. My recommendation is purchasing an external usb driven mic, and my tool of choice is the Yeti Blue. The Yeti is going to set you back about $130, and you will be impressed by the quality sound capture of this robust microphone. It does have 4 various settings and a volume dial so you can control how you want the sound to be fed to your computer. It also features a nifty mute button for when you don't want your sound to be sourced. Yeti has some really cool microphones including one that works with the iPhone. Check out their product line.
A key product in my coaching and consulting business is Zoom Video Conferencing. I pay for the Pro level which allows me to conference for longer than 45 minutes (the free version will end at 45 minutes). It also has some other features that I find helpful. Researching and using programs like Skype, Google Hangouts, GoToMeeting, I found Zoom to be the best product for my coaching and consulting business. Learn more about Zoom.
As far as your computing system, you don't need the cheapest in the industry, and you also don't need the most expensive. I would say on average, you will spend between $1,000 and $1,500 on a computer that will provide you all the system requirements to take your office virtual. I trust this article will give you some of the information you need to get started with a home-based business. If you have any questions, post them in the comments below.
